The second major project in IM1 for 2009 is to use your manifesto as a basis to make a body of work, to document and reflect on this work, and to republish your manifesto after having it assessed and in light of your having followed this manifesto. A copy of the assessment sheet for this task is available as a pdf below. From the assessment:
For this project you will have completed a body of time based media works that are the implementation of your manifesto. In addition, your manifesto will have been further developed and refined in terms of content and design in response to the feedback you received for the first manifesto submission. The interactive manifesto will now include links to the work that you have created in response to your manifesto.
This will be individual work.
This work will put into practice your manifesto which are your ideas about the intersection of the network, time based media and your media practice.
The second version of your manifesto will be published via your blog. It will contain a variety of media and links to further evidence, material, content and so on. The manifesto will contain links to the works that you have produced that are the product of your manifesto.
The second version of your manifesto, which will include examples of your own practice that have followed the manifesto, must include discussion of the outcomes of your work. This discussion could be in the form of blog posts, a web based essay or something similar, and will be linked to from your interactive project.
These outcomes should be discussed in three ways. The first is a reflection on the time based media that you have made that is a consequence of your manifesto. How do the works demonstrate or follow the manifesto? Are they successful? How? The second is what, if anything, would you change or amend in your manifesto now that you have tried to follow it? Why? The third is an overall reflection on what you think the implications of this practice might be for yourself as someone who wishes to have a professional media practice.
