This website collects the research undertaken by staff within the RMIT Media program. Staff undertake a wide variety of research, individually and collaboratively, all within the broad disciplinary fields of media and communications. This research is a mix of media practice and project based research with traditional humanities academic publishing and writing. The research that the media staff undertake falls (very loosely) under the following themes:
- cinema studies
- cultural studies
- media production
- media studies
- media pedagogy
- new media
- popular music studies
The "Projects" tabs lists all larger activities, the "Things" tab all the individual research artefacts produced, while "People", well, that's us.
This web site has been developed as a way to document and make visible the research activities that staff within the RMIT Media program undertake, largely because we've done this very poorly in the past. Comes in handy for things like prospective postgraduate students, and of course other academics in our various fields.
